Minor Zoning Modifications, Major Consequences

The vote ultimately comes down to Chin and de Blasio.

On August 2, 2019, Justice Arthur F. Engoron ruled against the megatower project in the Two Bridges neighborhood and in favor of City Councilwoman Margaret Chin, who had argued that City Planning illegally bypassed her jurisdiction when they approved the four towers as a mere “minor zoning modification.” Justice Engoron has not yet ruled on the “LESON” lawsuit (the #notowers #nocompromise one).

The Urban Land Use Review Procedure (ULURP) is next, and while it slows the process, the vote ultimately comes down to Chin and de Blasio. But, neither can be counted on whatsoever. People are grumbling about ULURP; their input has been solicited and repeatedly ignored. Major disturbances to decorum are forecasted. Please contact IG @aad.nyc if you want to join. It should be fun. Could it be an inflection point in the future of NYC land use policy?
