I am haunted by a photo of Keanu Reeves posted to the Instagram account nagakin_capsule_tower. The caption contains a link to an article announcing that Reeves is “studying to be an architect” to prepare for an upcoming role as Daniel Burnham in a film about the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. The nondescript photo provokes myriad questions: Why was Keanu at Nagakin? Does he have a thing for Metabolism? What if, I dare to imagine, the actor, a prolific philanthropist who “loves architecture,” had bought the tower and saved it from demolition?
