Marisa Nakasone, in her credit line for “Heartbreak Hotel” (#40), asked for recommendations “to fill the Liberty Inn–sized hole in her heart.” Alas: No place will fill that fabled, wedge-shaped void. However, if you’re willing to go further afield, Kew Motor Inn in Queens has “short stay” rates and themed rooms with mirrors on the ceiling, in-room hot tubs, etc. Its “safari room” is the stuff of legend. And don’t write off New Jersey: Across the river is Loop Inn, a love hotel in Avenel with a fortresslike façade. The place leans into the kitsch; there’s a room with a hot tub shaped like a coupe glass. Just Google “love hotel NJ,” and you’ll find that the North Bergen and Fort Lee area has a few motels that make liberal use of mounted mirrors.

But I digress—I know no New Yorker will haul it to Jersey for a tryst. There’s also Dayuse.com, which lets you book normal hotel rooms for a few hours during the day at a discounted rate.
